WEEKLY WISHLIST o1

A balmy 50 degrees on the last day of January in Chicago! Beautiful and sunny, I'm guessing, since I've been on the couch all day with a nasty cough and the sensation of an elephant sitting on my chest. Trying to rest up in hopes that I just need to give my body and break and I'll be back the grind tomorrow. I've got a whole file folder of bookmarks online labeled 'Stuff I want' that I've been too much of a pansy to pull the trigger on so I thought I'd put together a little wishlist of things I've had my eye on. There's a lot of black in this list, i know, I'm super gothy.

x1.) Scallop dresses by victoria by victoria beckham - perfect in every way except for the hefty $700 price tag.

x2.) YSL arty ring - been trying for ages to find a replica of it but the only website i've found so far is always sold out!

x3.) Patent aldo loafers - I have a suede pair from Topshop when I used to work there, but suede doesn't tend to do so well in the winter I thought patent may be a better option.

x4.) Chloe eau de parfum - currently, I'm working my way through the tester and roller ball I acquired over christmas but i'm dying to get my hands on the actual spray version of it!

x5.) Lace insert playsuit from topshop. There's a good amount of things from topshop on my list this week. I tend to find their items fit better and are better constructed than Forever21, but H&M doesn't have online shopping yet so i do most of my scavenging on topshop.com. Plus they have better stock than the physical store on Michigan ave.

x6-8.) Bow suspender tights, 50 denier black tights and seam back tights from topshop as well. Attempting to work more hosiery into my wardrobe to keep me from relying on the same two pair of highwaisted kristen jeans.

x9.) Double lion head elastic belt also from topshop that I saw and regrettably didn't purchase the last time I was at the Michigan ave store because I thought the price point was outrageous for an elastic belt and now I think about what I'd wear it with all the time.

Can I add a bagel and cream cheese to this list? I'm starving. All these things are so lovely but I'm still trying to save my pretty pennies for Jason Wu x Target. Is it lame that it causes me anxiety to have to fight to get a few of the pieces? I've been stalking the Target Style facebook page for a release time, but all they keep saying is "early morning." And I feel like Target's done nothing to assure customers that their website is capable of another big launch. And they haven't addressed putting limits on pieces being purchased, as well. I remain anxious and unconvinced until Sunday. I'm going to obsess over it, and probably post about it more on my blog, until then as well. Seriously, does anyone know if Einstein Bagels delivers?

SUNDAY RESTART

A week in pictures. As long as I'm busy, these days seem to fly by!
o1. lipstick covered cup of tea; you always know which ones mine. o2. first day of school: sleepyface edition. o3. burberry scotty dog pin as a necklace. o4. ron swanson on the cover of american craft. o5. nabbed the blu-ray of sherlock holmes for $13 at a resale shop! nabbed january issues of uk instyle, uk elle, lucky and real simple. o6. daily face: blair waldorf edition.

I can't believe it's sunday already! And now the cycle starts all over again, back to school tomorrow morning. Worked all weekend thanks to inventory, so I get next weekend off to recuperate - getting my hair colored and have my longtime friend alyssa coming to stay a few days towards the end of the week! Quite a bonus to balance out end of the month rent + bills paying. It also means I get to stay up as late as necessary to watch Jason Wu roll into target.com and hopefully it won't crash like the Missoni fiasco.

I hope to get some daily style photos up here soon, problem is it's been so cold and I don't have a blank wall in my apartment to take a decent picture. I'd really love to get some looks up on lookbook.nu eventually. Gonna stay productive, I swear!

WEEKLY KIKI

So here's something important to know about me and my life: I am obsessed with Kirsten Dunst. I think she is a wonderful actress and have loved every movie she's been in. Jumanji, Elizabethtown, Bring It On, I've watched them and enjoyed them - no shame here. Since her return to the spotlight after she went into treatment in 2008 for depression, she has cemented her place in my soul as adorable and amazing and stylish and perfect. And I will use this space to squee about her and what she wears.

As fate cements my obsession with Kiki, for the past year someone (I truly don't know who) has been sticking pictures of Kirsten into my apartment's "For Rent" flyer box once every few months. There have been 4 in my own flyer box and my lovely friend Rachel found one in a magazine stand once. I've begun collecting them and want to start a gallery in my own home. Upon further investigation, the internet tells me that this mystery person has been plastering Kiki around my neighborhood since at least 2007! Regardless, it's something I've started really looking forward to and check my flyer box every day. Last night we found this photo;

This one showed up on December 10th

Found this oldie in a news stand for The Onion on Clark and Diversey. Looks like it had been there for a while! I plan to start responding with pictures of Tobey Maguire in our flyer box to see if I can get extra photos our of our Kiki-bomber.

Aside from that, Kirsten was just recently at Sundance promoting her new film "Bachelorette" with Isla Fischer and Lizzy Caplan (yes, Janis Ian is back!) and looked incredible! Love the fur collar! The side braid! The ankle boots! Impeccable.

LOVE: Jason Wu x Target

Target, how do I love you? Let me count the ways. I have been anxiously awaiting february 5th so I can purchase all of my spring wardrobe courtesy of Target's Jason Wu diffusion collection. I've also been (uncharacteristically) carefully counting my pennies to ensure that I won't go into debt to get my greedy little paws on all the things I want for myself. I've posted my favorite looks from the lookbook above, and you had better believe that all of these will be in my possession! I heard about the Jason Wu capsule collection back when I was nursing my wounds after being so terribly burned by the Missoni x Target fiasco (all I wanted was their fleece throw blanket, and to this day am still without ;_; ) and didn't pay much mind to it until the lookbook came out and I instantly began salivating. Mr. Wu was inspired by french nu wave cinema in designing his collection and clearly had a doorway into my head to create all of my dream clothes. The collection has an emphasis on clean lines and sweet details, and a price point that never budges above $70. I've begun planning my attack for the pleated skirt ($29.99) a blush long-sleeved blouse ($34.99) the white sheer long-sleeved blouse with black bow seen above on the top right ($34.99) a poplin navy dress ($39.99) long sleeved striped sweater above on the top left ($32.99) and the pleated shift dress on the lower left ($39.99)
I love everything about this collection, down to the styling of the ad and lookbook models with amazing milkmaid braids and sweet socks with brogues. The whole look is so achievable and the shapes are universally flattering with the fit and flare style of the skirts and dresses.Wu has also included a phenomenal range of accessories for his line including the most precious black cat mascot named Milu who is featured on his product and his advertising. I haven't been this excited for a Target line since Erin Fetherston did her line all the way back in 2007 (!)

I know, I know. So precious I could keel over and die right now. I will most certainly be diligently refreshing Target's website into the wee hours of the morning on February 5th. I will go to work sleepy, but victorious!
